Check this out.

I'm really mad now, becuase I just upgraded to Vista two weeks ago.

And of course, its going to be like three hundred dollars once it comes out.
Other than that, it might actually work, if you go with the theory that odd-numbered Microsoft OSs work the best. (ie XP=5, Vista=6)

Glad to see its officially announced because before all I heard was rumors not that I doubted it was being made. But for now I'm still sticking with the old fashioned XP and maybe in a couple years (or when my PC blows) I will build a new PC and might upgrade to the latest Windows depending on the price.

Well, I've been using Windows 7 (Beta) for about a week or so and I love it. This isnt the first time they've offically announced it as its been out in the open for a while now.

I want to download the beta, but Microsoft's servers are far too busy. The beta is only available to the first 2.5 million people who download.
I'm told that Windows 7 is going to be faster than Windows Vista due to less memory leakage. I hope that's true.

The current 7000 build (the one I be using) is way faster then Vista SP1. I've already made the switch and have no intentions of going back to Vista now that they have something far far better out xD

Dang Lase, how'd you already get a copy? I'm totally excited to test it out. Plan on using Virtual PC 07. Anyways I'm still going to try, because it looks like they haven't opened the download yet.
Quick Question. I'm at the right site right?
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/eval ... 53205.aspx
BTW: IE8 is better than IE7, but needs more work to beat FF3 and Chrome.

NOTHING BEATS CHROME! :maulsaber: Lol, Chrome is awesome. I'm sorry about the caps, but hey...
My parents won't lemme install it... It can use all hardware and software vista can use, right? (ie a printer/fax/copier or an Nvidia 8600)

Yeah, they took all products that work with Vista and XP and built off of that.
And yes Chrome is very very nice, but I'm not moving totally over to Chrome til Google has it compatible with more things.
EDIT: Lase check your PM.

I'm seriously considering switching to Mac. Microsoft just continues to disappoint me.
(and since Macs can now emulate Windows...)

Remember Microsoft has to make an OS that can be used on almost every single piece of hardware and millions of different configurations, meet the demand of millions of different people. Apple has total control over their OS and know exactly which hardware they're using.
Just throwing that out there, but yes Apple has done a great job with OSX.

Apple is just amazing. My friend has a Mac, and he's told me about all the cool stuff he can do with it. It's pretty freaking awesome. The only disadvantage is that I wouldn't (obviously) be able to run any more windows games (I think). But it would be better than Vista, and I think it would be a great choice to switch right now, especially since I'm going to need a Laptop for college.
Off-topic: Found this webcomic. Thought it was hilarious:

So everything that worked in XP, that broke in Vista, will work in Win 7?

People must have really wanted this... I tried to get it all morning. But to no avail. For the few minutes when the D/L was supposedly 'live', it kept saying there were too many people on the server. But then my uncle who works at MS sent me a link. I'm downloading as I type. Can't wait to try it.
Yeah so this is basically Vista rebaked with speed tweaks and some nice new features thrown in. It's beat both Vista and XP in benchmarks. And this is just a
beta.
Did anyone else here that the build number for Windows 7 is actually 6.1? Microsoft sometimes...

It's a legit download, I'm using it right now, but you'll need to go back once windows gets it's servers fixed for a product key.

You actually don't even need to get a key. Or so they say at
http://www.ComputerWorld.com
ComputerWorld.com wrote:But users who aren't able to obtain an activation key will still be able to download and install the beta, then run it on a 30-day trial basis. And by using the same "slmgr -rearm" command that gained notoriety after Windows Vista's debut, users can extend that trial period to a total of 120 days.
