Download Speed problem

So whenever I download something that is really big, (example- the convo pack or the mod tools) it took me about 4 hours to download. I think this is really slow, and when I looked up the Mbps in the Windows Task Manager, it says under networking that the Link Speed is 100 Mbps. the problem is that the transfer rate on downloads usually is an average of 40 KB/s, on any site, filefront, and others
I already searched for and answer, and was looking here,* but found nothing.

What can I do.
The internet connection is provided by a local provider
and that provider uses fiber-optic cable for internet connection.
What can I do?
thanks

Call your Internet Service Provider.

{curses at internet service provider}
already tried-
they told me that they had no idea, that usually downloads should go faster, and that they have nevver recieved this type of problem.
thanks for the suggestion. any other ideas? BTW- right now, I'm downloading the BF1 modtools, and the transfer rate is 30KB/s, and it still has about 1 1/2 hours to go. I have already waited 2 hours!!

Any ideas?
thanks

It could be just slow servers where your downloading from such as a lot of FileFront users are downloading files but if its like that all the time than I don't know. Have you tried downloading some tools that are supposed to tweak your download speed? Also if there are a lot of Computers connected to your Network that can slow your download speeds. Are you using a Wireless Router or connected by an Ethernet cord? Most likely you have a setting changed and also having a lot of processes running on your PC can slow down your downloads.

1-Find out exactly what speed you are
supposed to have. For example, I have a 6mb download / 1.5 upload connections.
2-Find an internet speed test site. If you're in the US, I recommend
THIS ONE.
3-Test the speed against multiple locations (for example, with the link above there are multiple locations to test your speed against). If it
averages out to the speed you're supposed to get, or if 2 or 3 sites show the speed you're supposed to get then your internet is fine, and it's not your connection. Otherwise you need to make some calls.

Ok, I tested the speed at that speakeasy, and all the download transfer rates were below 25 KB/s (200 KBps speed). All of the Upload transfer rates were below 35 KB/s.
For the first part, how do I do that? If I press ctrl+alt+delete, and go to networking, it says that the link speed is 100 MBps. Is this what I'm looking for? IF not, what do I need to do to find the answer to Tean's question 1?
thanks
