Trouble with iTunes

Post by Nova Hawk »

Hi, sorry in advance if this is in the wrong place, but I'm having this problem with iTunes. Whenever I launch iTunes it gives me this warning saying "The registry setting used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes" then iTunes does come up, but it wont allow me burn any Audio CDs or anything, I can still rip music onto there, but not off. I've tried going to my Control Panel and removing the whole program from there, restarting the computer, then try to reinstall it. But it still gives me that problem. It would be great if someone got back to me on this ASAP, since it's the beginning of the Christmas season and I wanna create some CDs.

Can anyone help me?

Technical Advice would of been a better choice :)

I did a little research for you and here is what I got, seems helpful:
It seems that some users installing iTunes 8 on Windows systems are encountering an error message:

“ERROR: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing… Please re-install iTunes”

iTunes uses GEAR software drivers for importing and burning CD’s & DVD’s. Re-installing (or installing the latest GEAR drivers seems to fix this problem. No reboot required for this install.

You can get the current GEAR drivers here: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/driv...

If this does not fix your problem download a fresh installer for iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Uninstall iTunes, reboot, & then do a fresh install of iTunes.
- Yahoo Answers.

So give that a try and if it doesn't work I am afraid I cannot help you. Good Luck fixing it though.

Ok, sure I'll give it a try.

EDIT
I tried your link to the gear site, but I got a page error while getting onto the site.
