Is it possible to downgrade from Windows XP Service Pack 3 back down to 2 using this download?

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

I'd like to return a couple of other computers to Windows XP Service Pack 2, but I have no idea when they got 3 and thus would rather not start doing random guesses with the System Restore.

This should give you all you need to know. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950249

So why are you uninstalling it? :? Mostly it's just a collection of bug fixes.

You can't use custom themes with Service pack 3.

Thanks for the link, I'll start looking into that.

Hold the phone! If that's all you need I'll try to rustle up the SP3 patcher...

[EDIT]

Here you go. http://cid-d0f068f5fb9ca7f3.skydrive.li ... %206.0.exe
I couldn't find the correct one online, so I just uploaded the one I had on my PC. Should work for SP3.

Hmm... Bug fixes or cosmetic changes. Tough choice.

To be fair, I don't know the nature of the bug fixes and I certainly can't speak for how attached to your themes you are, but is it really worth choosing appearance over performance?

I have no idea of the nature of the fixes either, but I never noticed any change on the SP3 computers. Themes themselves don't effect performance, or so little as to make it unnoticeable. Objectdock doesn't slow my computer any so a theme isn't going to do much unless it's a Windows Blinds theme which I don't want to use. Unless your supposing that SP3 improves performance of itself, which it very well might.

I'm a nerd who likes his desktop ascetically pleasing. Unless I learn of a fix in SP3 thats valuable enough to me, I don't have much interest. I haven't had a virus or Trojan in years so I think I'm safe enough as far as that, and I have had no "bugs" with XP yet.

@MasterSaitek009

So that fixes SP3 to be compatible with the use of themes? If so I haven't a problem in the world with SP3.

Thanks for the replies, since Microsoft help was completely un-helpful.
