Hi, my computer is a Windows 2000 and whenever I turn on my computer half way through booting up it, the screen goes blue and says: STOP: INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE ERROR and won't turn on (This is my brothers computer). Can anyone help me?

STOP: INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE ERROR
means that the Pc cannot boot from your HD
Could be a wrong Bios Startup Setting or a broken startup reverence to the HD or a possible broken C:\

Go to Bios and:
Turn on : Boot by CD
Put in the Windows 2000 CD into your Device
and restart.
The Pc will boot from CD.

Also you should reverse the Settings after the sucessfull Start and built a StartDisc for the Case of another Emergency.

btw:Wrong Topic. You should have post it in Technical Advises

What changed since before this started happening? Did you plug in a new pice of hardware (external drive, mouse, PCI card, etc...). Does the BIOS correctly detect your hard drive?

For future reference when you get STOP errors you can write down the hex codes ( something like 0X02343242) and look them up online to find the problem quickly.
