How to get Battlefront 2 to work on Vista

First ZE, then modtools, now I can't even run stock maps. I have Nvidia 8800 which should be able to handle BF2 any day. I also have vista, which is skrewing up everything.

I open up BF2, go to instant action, lower bots to 0, and try to run any stock map. I press launch and crash. I look in my BF2log and no severity 3. :cpu:

Help?

Edit
I finally found the problem and it was sound. So:

-Open up control panel
-Go to Hardware and Sound
-Press sound
-Go to recording
-Right-click and press show disabled devices
-Activate Stereo mix and CD audio

This allowed me to play maps instead of just getting menus and then crashes.

Wait... You didn't just create a topic asking how to fix your SWBF2 then create another topic saying how you fixed your SWBF2? :? :x

Yeah, I have a vista and BF2 works great for me! Runs better than my old PC which was a Windows. Plus I have the DVD version. 8)

Alright, I apologise for bumping this thread as well, but I'm having some problems with me SWBF 2 and Vista Compatibility. I can play the game when audio is off, but I'm crashing to the desktop whenever audio is on. I tried turing Stero Mix on, however, I checked my recording disabled devices, and no such device even exists on my laptop. Help would be much appreciated.

Yeah, I was stumped as well as to why it wasn't there.

Also, I thought it would be better if we just necromancer'd this thread instead of making a new one, seeing as it does have the tutorial on how to fix BFII.

If this were all in one topic, we wouldn't have this problem. The topics are barely a month apart.

The link in Era's first post has a possible solution on the second page of its topic.
