Yeah... I'm using it... Dual booting actually. I heartily suggest it! No messing around trying to find the right driver for everything like in windows.

Yeah. I just need a CD burner, then I'm going to set up a Dual-Boot with it.

You might only need a drive. Check out infrarecorder. You have to burn an IMAGE, not just a file. I found it was easier to wipe windows then install ubuntu and reinstall windows. Check the ubuntu forums for the detailed guide, but it has to do with the bootloader.

I tried Infrarecorder, it didn't work.

It's all right. My dad just got a new computer, and he's going to give me the Burner drive from his old one, so It'll all work out.

Yeah I thought so, but when I searched it on google it only came up with the beta.

This is the one I use for everything. If you don't have a CD burner, it won't help, though.

Well, I just got my dad's CD burner hooked up, and I used infrarecorder and it worked fine. (infrarecorder is one of the programs reccommended by the Ubuntu website)

I have the CD burned, but I still need to set up the Hard drive that I'm going to install it on, etc. It'll be a while before the Dual Boot is set up.

You can use Ubuntu without installing it. Just boot the CD.

Pop in the disc, restart your computer and it should boot up!

The gui ruined linux! Use a console based version instead
(just kidding)
Ubuntu is good in my opinion, I've used it before and never ran into any problems other then I couldn't find good alternatives to a lot of my windows based stuff. Right now I'm working on my Fedora 9 server (typing this post from here actually).
Hardy Heron was awesome when I Vmware installed it ^_^. Video drivers gave me some troubles but I found a script that I cant seem to recall at the moment which fixed all my trouble
