PE Messing up Graphics

Post by trainmaster611 »

I don't know a lot about computer graphics so I don't know 100% what I'm talking about but I know its messing up something.

Recently, when I open PE, the program just plain doesn't show the effect or that grey area where the grid is supposed to show up.

Anyways, PE will crash after a few mins and then something with the graphics gets messed up. The screen resolution is stuck at 640x480 and the color quality is stuck at 4 bit.

If I watch a video, it will stop after two seconds and if I try to play Battlefront, it will say I don't have the TnL Lightning thing or whatever.

So obviously PE is screwing with my computer. The little Help and Support feature fixed my computer the last time.

These are the instructions I followed:
1. Open Display Properties in Control Panel.
2. Click the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Monitor tab.
3. The monitor that is selected for your computer is displayed under Monitor Type.

If correct monitor isn't listed, click Properties.
4. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update driver.
5. After the Hardware Update Wizard starts, click Install from a list or specific location, and then click Next.
6. Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next. This provides a list of monitor manufacturers and models.
7. In Manufacturers, click the manufacturer of your monitor, and then in Models, click the model name.

If your monitor isn't listed, click (Standard monitor type) in Manufacturers, and then choose the most compatible setting for your monitor in Models.
8. Click Next, and then click Next again.
Then I have to restart.

When the computer came up, all the colors were messed up and stuff (like when you roll back a driver).

When I logged in, a message popped up that said that Windows detected an error involving the graphics card or display or something (something along those lines). Would you like Windows to fix it?

I clicked yes and it restored whatever had been messed up. I could change resolution again, watch videos, and play video games.

So I know how to fix it but the problem is I don't understand why PE is messing with my graphics things. This is really frustrating because I can't make effects. I guess what I'm looking for is an explanation as to why PE is doing this and a solution (all the proper dll and lvl files are there).
