iMac Desktops
We are going to be upgrading to one of the brand new iMacs here soon because my dad & I are done w/ Microsoft. We've always had problems with it. I won't go in long detail, but we've had problem after problem and they've never ceased. So my dad finally caved in and we got one of the new iMacs. We're still going to get a parallel so we can run Win7 w/ it because we've got some games that won't transfer over to PC.
The only thing is I wanna know if you can have multiple desktop backgrounds like you do w/ a Microsoft Win7 PC? Do any of you Mac users out there know if you can have 'em? Cuz that would be super awesome!

You'll have just as many problems with any OS.

Yes, I do realize that I won't be entirely problem free but at least the good majority will be fixed. But you know, that wasn't exactly the answer I was looking for.Kateana wrote:You'll have just as many problems with any OS.

Re: iMac Desktops
None of the stuff here is particularly well argued. If macs are PCs that load faster, why not get a mac? If Macs can get viruses, but generally don't, as opposed to windows, why not get a mac? How does the intelligence of the user-base affect wether or not I should own a mac?Marth8880 wrote:Do NOT get a Mac.
I have a mac, and it's certainly a hassle to use as a gaming device, and I'd definitely want a seperate gaming/media rig, why not have a mac? My entire family owns macs, because recenly microsoft gas just been failing for us on multiple levels.

Because you can get something better - a Windows computer - for a quarter, literally a QUARTER of what you would spend on a piece of crap that is worse in terribly aggravating ways. The Mac starts up faster because it skips checks and things that really should be done. Macs are on the rising brim of being in the "virus-worthy" market because of their pathetic popularity. And again, only insane IDIOTS get malware (excluding the ones whose machines are infected through worms, rootkits [AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!], and by other means such as hiding themselves in scripted pages). I'm sorry if I offend anybody ( ), but only the retarded quacks who are too blind to realize the difference between social engineering and the real thing. (No, I'm not pulling words out of Mike's mouth; I knew this before I knew about that website.)Grev wrote:None of the stuff here is particularly well argued. Re: iMac Desktops
While I agree that Macs suck, (which I used to hate on principle, untill I got a MacBook for awhile as a renter. It was brand new((I pulled of the wrapping myself)), and a piece of junk. Now I hate them from experiance.) you should be more carefull when choosing your words. Its just a computer, no need to start pulling insults.Marth8880 wrote:Because you can get something better - a Windows computer - for a quarter, literally a QUARTER of what you would spend on a piece of crap that is worse in terribly aggravating ways. Anyway, I have a couple pics that sums up the PC vs MAC fight.

Re: iMac Desktops
A quarter? Literally? Thats not even a slight exaggeration, its an enormous one. If the new iMac costs $1,200, you'd have to find me a $300 PC, and one of better quality than a new iMac, for it to be a quarter of the price. I don't think flagrant exaggeration helps your argument.Marth8880 wrote:Because you can get something better - a Windows computer - for a quarter, literally a QUARTER of what you would spend on a piece of crap that is worse in terribly aggravating ways. Macs are on the rising brim of the "virus-worthy" market... Ok. Rising brim is the keyword. So... not as many viruses yet, although potentially, sometime in the future, Macs will be in the "virus-worthy" market. I'll take my chances for now. And when they start getting viruses, I'll keep using them, just as PCs are still used despite their susceptibility to viruses and monopoly in the "virus-worthy" market.
And if only idiots get malware, and its harder to get malware on a mac, its logically harder to get malware overall, independent of mental capacity (which you really can't prove to be less in the Mac using population) on a Mac.
I still don't see how your argument helps you, as it's largely working in hypotheticals.

Re: iMac Desktops
Before the argument gets too drawn out here, keep in mind it all user preference. If Nova reeeeeeeaaaaaly wants a Mac, then he should get one. If he doesnt like it then he will remember that we tried to help. If he does like it then he can think we are a bunch of pc-luven idiots. I say Win/win.
And if you want a real argument whether a Mac is better than a PC, remember this
I rest my case, if you dont agree then thats your loss. I wont argue further.
ALTHOUGH, to be fair, Macs have improved a lot over the past few years, they dont suck nearly as much as they used too. They are getting close to PC level. Matter of fact, the IMac may actually be good. But the above still holds true. I dont know, the IMac does seem pretty good. BUT I still feel the PC is better. I am just being fair here.

Hey guys, your unsolicited advice is out of hand and is derailing the topic. His question was answered, in the future please let that be enough, thanks.
