Downloads stop part way through

Recently I got a problem with my computor when I downlode big files after I leave the computor for like an hour the downlodes stop and just doesn't downlode any further no matter how long I let it set. It happens with IE and google chrome and I have no idea how to fix it. Help please

my internet speed when it stops or normaly?
normaly my downlode speed is about 90kb/s but when it stops changes but after it has stoped the speed and time and ammount downloded all stay the same.

This may be a problem with the lines, or the provider.
go to http://speedtest.net and post what you have.

You can use a soft like FDM or IDM to download big files without interruption risks.

When I download big updates and stuff and leave it sometimes my router connection stops and turns back on. The bad thing about these downloads is that if the router turns off while its downloading, once turned back on (internet symbol turns green) the server you downloaded from won't know where you stopped at so it will never the end pause the download.

I've had quite a lot of trouble with this with wireless internet, but none with a physical ethernet connection. Wireless connections can be rather inconsistent at times.

Well your ping is low so it's not a distance to dslam issue , but your speeds are not good what are you paying for shared cable or home dsl, 1mb with half mb upload is odd should be more like 7 mb with .25 kb upload. Please tell us more about what your service actually is I can suggest some changes on your router and how to streamline your system a bit. If your on cable remember your sharing a dsl account with everyone on your loop which can be up to 250 houses causing your connection speeds to jump from useful to dead. Distance to the dslam is dsl also makes a difference as your speed will degrade further from it's power source. I'd say for now use a download resuming software until you can make some ISP/router changes in settings.
