ActiveX problem?
So, I've noticed that some of my old games, such as X-wing Alliance and Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of the Mummy (which was released in 2002) have this odd graphics issue where you can't see anything except a bunch of lines and squares. I'll have to test it out to see if it is affecting any of the other old games I have (MotS and Jedi Knight) have the same problem, but I'm not sure what's going on. I do remember that once back in June that something went wrong with our graphics card, and we had to reinstall the card or the features located on the card to get the computer up and running (I forget exactly what was done). It seems that the issue has stemmed from that. My dad, who's technical advice I trust (he's a computer scientist after all) says that it could be either a hard drive issue or a ActiveX issue. I have Google searched and haven't found a place to redownload ActiveX, so if a link could be provided, that would help. If it's a hard drive issue, then I'm not sure what to do. I would also provide a screenshot of the issues, but the games appear normally in the image. I also know for a fact that these games worked fine on my computer (which is about 6- or 7- years old I think) before, so I really need help. Has anyone else had this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if I'm not being specific enough, feel free to tell me to elaborate.

Are you certain you (or your dad) aren't thinking of DirectX? DirectX sounds like the most likely cause of whatever error you're having here, being that it is the framework for most of the graphics components of games and applications.
For that, you should be able to download the latest version here.

I'm pretty sure it's not, as I said before, it's just the old games. All the newer ones are working fine.jedikiller32 wrote:Are you certain you (or your dad) aren't thinking of DirectX?
