OpenDNS? [Solved]
I, within the past month, have for some reason had my default browser switched from Google to something called OpenDNS. I have no clue what it is, I certainly never searched anything related to it, and it isn't nearly as functional as Google is. For some reason however, I can't find any place that indicates making Google the default browser on the site or anything. I'm expecting a simple and obvious answer to this, as I am very unobservant, but help would be appreciated.

Meh, not browser, you know what I mean...
But what I mean, 501st, is not that it's my home page (that's CNN) But when I type in something in the URL bar (I use Firefox, I don't think IE has that) I'm used to it either directly going to the site (i.e. I type failblog and it automatically goes to http://www.failblog.org) or get a google search if it's not specific enough. However, it now uses OpenDNS, which doesn't auto-redirect or have nearly as relevant of searches, so it's just kind of a pain.

Please only quote a post when you are directly referring to it. Your comment had nothing to do with my post.501st_commander wrote:when he opens the web explorer the first page that pops up is called home page.Frisbeetarian wrote:Google is not a browser.

@GangsterJawa
THIS should help you revert back to your previous DNS if you were the one that set up OpenDNS. If you didn't or can't figure it out from the Knowledge Base, I suggest that you look at their forums and ask questions there as your best bet here is waiting around until someone who has OpenDNS can help you.

That's because you or someone else has changed your DNS servers to the OpenDNS ones which have the IP addresses of:GangsterJawa wrote:Meh, not browser, you know what I mean...

This is going way over my head...
Can you give it in simpler terms? I'm not incredibly technologically literate.

I already directed you to the place you need to look... and it's in fairly simple terms.

Re: OpenDNS?
OpenDNS has settings if you sign-up for a free account with them. It might allow you to change the URL search settings.
DNS stands for Domain Name System
Everyone uses DNS. Each computer on the web has an IP address, such as 129.21.121.240. When you type in a address such as gametoast.com, the browser connects to a DNS. The DNS says gametoast.com belongs to 111.241.32.1 (not really that IP) and tells your browser to contact that computer to get gametoast's homepage.
OpenDNS is one DNS provider. Normally people use their ISP's DNS servers. However, OpenDNS can be better then some ISP's servers. If someone changed your DNS settings to use OpenDNS, I wouldn't change it back.

Re: OpenDNS?
Yeah, I suppose. Being as technically illiterate as I am, I basically decided not to worry about it.[RDH]Zerted wrote:OpenDNS has settings if you sign-up for a free account with them. It might allow you to change the URL search settings.

I guess this can be locked now.
