Xbox 360 Pro or Arcade?

Post by Fluffy_the_ic »

Yesterday, I had a major happy because I found out that I was less that $40 short of buying a 360. Then I realized that it was only the 360 arcade. I want to hook my 360 up to the interwebz and I want a good-sized hard drive, (the arcade only has 256 mb) but I'm in a bit of a money crunch right now. My parents are forcing me to do volunteer work instead of do any sort of job where I can get paid this summer. So I want to know- Should I wait and buy the Pro or just go with the Arcade?

Whatever you do, don't get arcade.

It has a problem with xbox live because of hard drive space. I would save up and get the core if you can find one.

Yep, don't get the Arcade version if you ever plan to buy any DLC at all. Arcade is only good for people who will never, ever use Xbox Live.

Take this with a grain of salt but: PS3, 360 price drops coming this fall
Possibility of the Elite coming down to the Pro price point in July-August. If you want to get the 360 now, just ignore this.
But if you just want it this year... I'd play PC games for a while and wait. :|

Just thought I'd lay that out there.

@Saitek- Good info, although I want to get it before September so that it won't screw up my school year. I've always found September to be THE WORST time to release games and the like. I guess I can understand M Games, but T and E? Makes no sense to me. My parents offered to loan me some money to buy a 360, and if I don't pay most of it back by late December, they're jsut gonna get me less birthday presents. So I think I'll just go for the elite. I actually think that the White 360 looks bad. THIS is probably the cause of my fear of any white-colored electronic device. But I might decide to wait until September if need be- do you guys think it's a good idea?

When you get the 360 I recommend getting a fan or something to cool it because there have been many problems with overheating if left on for a long time.

And I doubt you don't know this but never set on carpet without something underneath.

Yeah, now my dad is paying me 20 bucks everytime I mow my lawn, which includes the front and back yards, leaf-blowing the driveway and patio, trimming any missed spots, edging it, and so on. We also have a pretty big yard and get quite a bit of rain. So I think that if I can afford it soon, I'll probably buy an elite. If it gets drier though I'll just buy a Pro and see where I can get some covers for the 360. This can be locked now.
