Stupid internet...

Post by obiboba3po »

this is a little embarassing to ask for help here, but im getting desperate. my internet is just messed up. sometimes it works at lightspeed, other times i cannot even connect. we use comcast, not sure if that has anything to do with it. anyways...i think its somehow a faulty connection, and hopefully this will get posted before it crashes again, so if anyone has any advice whatsoever, i will praise you for it. thanks so much

Are you using Wireless or have it plugged in? What is your operating system? If you are using Wireless it could mean you are getting out of range (happens to me sometimes) try moving closer to the Router. If you are using an Ethernet cord than it could be anything, you can try optimizing your internet connection with this software - Tune Up Utilities 2008 it is a 30 day trial you can do registry scan, internet cleaner, internet optimizer and a ton of other stuff. Its a great tool and recommended by Microsoft. Or if there is a lot of computers on your internet connection at once it can slow you way down.

My computer was doing that about a month ago. UNINSTALL MICROSOFT SERVICE PACK 3. That did the trick for me.

My laptop was patch with the Windows XP Service Pack 3 (we're talking about the same pack, right?) and I do not have any internet connection problems, either with Dial-Up at home or wireless internet elsewhere. Could it be registry issues? I run a registry fixer program almost everyday...

On my computer, it was Microsoft Service Pack 3, but I think it's also called Windows XP Service Pack 3, not sure. I have Wireless, and when I uninstalled it, videos actually took less than an hour to buffer.

Are you running a separate router? I had an older router that was dying and would cause those issues.
