Repairing dll and registry question.
Does anyone know of a free program that finds and repairs the Registry and .dll files? The ones I have downloaded are just samples and only do so much.
Also does anyone know of a free Anti-Virus program? I need a pretty good reliable one becuase I think I may possibly have a trojan or something.

RE: Program
TO stop all trojan from sending data from your pc install zonealarm free trial at zonelabs.com . its the best "hit the ground running" firewall.
As far as locating a Trojan on windows I use the free application called Spybot Search & Destroy. Google it , its free from hundreds of download sites.
THose 2 will stop anything that you need to worry about on windows relating to trojans. As far as virus, i would never suggest a free one. Norton is the best hands down, and thats from someone who has used many types for since the internet.
Also for now just to see, open your alt ctrl delete window and see what programs are running. Anything running as "your windows user" thats taking alot of resources (over 5k) could be a bad trojan/traffic. You can list your current applications here and Ill tell you what needs to be closed and removed.

RE: Program
firefox.exe
hpsysdrv.exe
IEXPLORER.EXE
atiptaxx.exe
atidtct.exe
ATIRW.EXE
kdb.exe
rundll32.exe
ser.exe
dap.exe (download acccelerator)
and then task manager and explorer
Well there is one problem I know of. I don't use internet explorer but it is running and when I'm disconnected from the internet it is always trying to connect. I once had a problem where a certain "ANTI-SPYWARE" program was always trying to download itself even if I was offline. This has the same characteristics.
I also get a rundll error when I dial up.
Do you know of any good trials or free .dll fixers?
Thanks for the help!

RE: Program
ok the firefox is obvious.
Hpsysdrv.exe tells me you have an hp printer,
ati...exe are your video stuff for your ati card,
dap.exe you told us,
IEXPLORER.exe is internet explorer,
kdb.exe questionable for it is for a KSQL server but has been seen on some standalone systems, I'll check into that.
ser.exe is a red flag, it is a keylogger Stealth Email Redirector, basically spyware and could be triggering rundll32.exe, for that is a normal windows executor (I've seen it pop up a few times on older programs, but it is suppose to shut itself down, which is why i suspect ser.exe is using it.)
post some system users also. Sometimes some virii give themselves access to sytem services. But ser.exe definately needs to be removed.
rundll.exe without the 32 (rundll32.exe) is fishy also. sounds like a virus is imbedded somewhere. I'll look around to see which one(s). are there any other symtoms you been experiencing lately?
Off topic: please refrain from using broad titles. I've renamed it for you this time, but read the rules. We need some idea what the question or prob you have is so if others have experienced same or similar problems, they know where to look.

RE: Program
sawyerdk9, I guess you mustn't have that feared the fact SpeedBit® Download Accelerator Plus may ship with all sorts of unwanted Elements, but is has unfortunately been proven with the increasing Amount of Versions of this same Product, and in order to make sure this Download Manager won't trouble you that much within the months to come, I would advise you to download and install one of the 5.[#] Releases having been developped, unless you would of course prefer being still able to call and take advantage out of the numerous Features associated to the latest Versions of it, which would sooner or later become somewhat unadvised and even unconscious to consider for Reasons I may have mentioned previously. Above all, I would equally advise you to get your hands down on a Specialized Tool called "Sysinternals© Process Explorer" so as to obtain a little more Precise Details regarding Processes which may be currently running onto the Personal Computer you are experiencing troubles with...
RE: Program
I also want to point out that upon downloading of Windows Service Pack 2, the problem seemed to arrise. I'm going to try that thing Guru suggested at zonelabs.com
OFF-TOPIC HOORAY!!
When does my 1st Warning go away. I thought there were some rules and such about them but I don't know where. I'm interested in knowing my rank.

RE: Program
Off-topic : Unfortunately, I doubt you could recover your actual Rank so soon, as it has been decided that Targetted or even Condemned GameToast members would be tracked and supervised thanks to the Amount of Warnings having been set up in replacement of the concerned phpBB Stuffs, but if you would nevertheless wish to learn a little more regarding this Choice, then I would highly suggest taking contact as fastly as possible with either our Dear Jawa Administrator or Teancum, since they are both among the only Users being able to define personalized Settings inherent to your very own Account. On the other hand, I have to warn you that attempting to get back your real Rank won't be actually that easy to complete, unless you have been equally referred inside sort of Centralized "Blacklist", which must have been after all ever considered within the past months...

Off-topic : Alright, feel free to keep being associated towards a Rank comparable to your current one, but do not forget that leaving it as it is from now on won't be that helpful and suitable within the Months and Years to come, especially in case you would want to build up a brand-new Fame on GameToast Message-Board. Indeed, in order to illustrate this sort of Statements, I would want you not to forget that I might not have perhaps succeeded into becoming a newly-instituted Administrator if my phpBB Class had remained the highly-feared "I may be banned soon !" one, and for that reason, I would wish you to look forward this Possibility. Moreover, since you seem not to have recently committed Reprehensible Acts back, then I assume you should not face that many Difficulties and problems while attempting to recover the Rank you are supposed to have been promoted to for a certain time...
