REPUBLIC COMMANDO: EXTRACTION - by AQT
What it is:
----------------------------------------
This is a mod map based on the game "Star Wars: Republic Commando" designed for those who enjoy:
- the feeling of being the last player left on their team during Conquest matches
- mindless shooting with some strategy
- fighting while under overwhelming odds
Think of it as a concept map. The planned sequels will have more gameplay variety.
This map takes place in the canyons of Geonosis during the first Battle of Geonosis.
Play as a Republic Clone Commando and protect the designated command post (the Extraction Point) from being overrun by CIS forces.
The CIS wins if they take the command post. The Commandos win if they manage to kill all of the CIS units.
The CIS loses if their reinforcement points are completely depleted. The Commandos lose if the CIS takes control of the commando post for 19 seconds.
Available modes are:
- Easy: Defend the extraction point with the aid of 12 Republic Clone Troopers.
- Medium: Defend the extraction point with the aid of 6 Republic Clone Troopers.
- Hard: Defend the extraction point without the aid of Republic Clone Troopers.
What stays the same in every mode is that there will always be 48 CIS units against 12 Republic Clone Commandos.
It is recommended that one plays Hard mode online with other human players because it is virtually impossible to win in single player alone.
The map will show up in the Instant Action list as "Republic Commando #1."
- Units and weapons based on the "Star Wars: Republic Commando" game
- Accurate weapon sounds
- Three different difficulty levels
- Buildable defense barriers
- Explosive barrels
- Adjustable CIS reinforcement meter through the Conquest settings
- New 3D Clone Commando "HUD"
THIS LEVEL IS NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY LUCASARTS, A DIVISION OF LUCASFILM ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LTD. ELEMENTS TM & (C) LUCASARTS, A DIVISION OF LUCASFILM ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LTD.
It's great. Like you said gets pretty repetitive, but very fun, simple mode.
Only 'bug' i noticed is that one of the canyons the barrels trigger each other (like pretty much the whole canyon at once)...

Anyway excellent work!
They're meant to do that. A chain reaction, I think AQT called it.

I just tried this out and I really like the idea of it, and the sides (1st person HUD and all) are great, obviously the actual map (hopefully) is nothing more than a prototype for things to come.
I really encourage you to keep up with this series and even maybe something like online-compatible campaigns would be great.

I didn't realize that was purposeful, I thought it was just a fortunate accident of prop placement. In this case, I'll point out that not all the barrels down a particular canyon succeed in triggering each other.

My thoughts exactly. Simple, but a fun way to kill ten minutes or so. I'd definitely download any more maps like this that you put together.

Thanks, everyone! And thank you, Sky for the review on SWBF Files.
About the barrels:
Fiodis wrote:I thought it was just a fortunate accident of prop placement.
^That would be it. All the barrels were semi-randomly placed. I saw as some of you have already mentioned that some barrels triggered one another in chain reactions and others did not. Upon liking what I saw, I just kept it the way everything was.
And yeah, Lagomorphia is hard to please. I'm so glad he hasn't complained one bit at all in this thread so far.
this is one of the first actually challenging maps ive played on swbf2 pc that isnt actually impossible (some remake of utapau where droids have like 20k reinforcements and republic has 2k) anyway im immensly pleased with this map because it beats me all the time. those dang droids and their stupid automatic sniper rifles XD. GREAT JOB, and also, i like the way some barrels set off others and some dont, gives you a more realistic feeling.
This map is absolutely fantastic. The only thing I don't like is that it's bloody impossible to do solo, even on easy. I can't wait to try this out with my buddies.
