Thule Moon

Thule Moon|

A republic assault vessel lands on Thule Moon in order to take out the planetary shield generator, but is met with droid opposition. Fight from the landing zone and push the droids back to the shield generator.

Copy THM to the addon folder.

Gameplay|

There are only a few minor issues, tank battles are intense. Make use of the special commando unit granted for this level.

I know this isn't too spectacular, but it's my first map, so here it is.

got some stuff:

-you may need more units on the map at once, the map is quite lacking in infantry.

-more speeder bike spawns for both factions would help to get around.

-some transport vehicles could also help

-the 74Z-speeder bike that is colored in republic markings is from BF1 right?

-the laser bolts did not come from the laser cannons(spray circled) when they are meant to. i wouldn't care if those laser cannons didin't swivel. also, the middle of the tank has no laser cannon(also, they only have 2 laser cannons), so no laser bolt should come from there, unlike in the pic where they do.

-more cover and detail foliage or rubble on the map could make it look better.

-nice sky!

-some vehicles like the ATXT are missing some sounds(in the case of the ATXT, it is missing its walking sound)

-the special jet trooper commando's rifle and pistol are unlocalized, but the blaster rifle rocked! :D

-nice skins! :D

all in all, nice map. 8)

The rifle's unlocalized? I localized both, they should say "Commando Rifle", and "Commando Pistol", only in english.
That's the conversion pack's GAT, Teancum gave me part of an ODF to fix the cannons, I thought it fixed it, I think, the cannons come out of three places, I'll look into that. It may be possible to hex edit the fire points, maybe.
That is the correct speeder for the era.
What if I put some of these in? Their supposed to be ground units though, I've seen them in BF2 as flyers.

It is best if you put the unit slider to 32, I'll try to edit the LUA so it already has 32 units as the minimum.
I have no idea how sounds work, I'll look into that.

You mean that they are supposed to be hovers? Not flyers?

From wookiepedia:
This repulsorlift vehicle had very little armor and only two weak laser cannons for self-defense. It could be carried onboard a LAAT/c to quickly reach strategic points on the battlefield.
Those who played Star Wars the Clone wars know this.

Yes, they are hover vehicles. You had to escort these to the Geonosian arena and also on Thule Moon you had to escort them to force wield open a door.

I don't have much free time right now, but once I do I'll be sure to give this a try.

As for the transport, I like the idea of putting it into future releases whether you're able to make it a hover vehicle or not.

Actually thats a problem with the model.
It dosn't have firepoints on the side guns.

Theres a second model of the GAT in the convert pack assets, its much higher poly. I dont remember if it had the fire points either though...

yeah, that RTT would make a good transport vehicle. although if someone could make it, he would need more ingame screenies as that picture is blurry and only shows one side.

don't forget it is lightly armored.

no tumbling sand could cover a gap so perfectly and neatly. make the sand be rough in surface and scatter it a bit. the sand isn't exactly level either, it is sloping down.

the gap(spray circled) is a place where you can fall down to the bottom of the building's bottom.

the sand mounds(spray circled) shouldn't be outside the window, and shouldn't have a flat bottom as if there was a floor.

Ok, I can never find all the textures to that generator. I need to block off the rest of the outpost, you're not supposed to go around there, but I will fix the terrain.
Pyc0fred already made the RTT, but it's a flyer. It's not that lightly armored, it holds up pretty well against GAT's.

Very fun, well executed map, esp. that gorgeous sky texture, and good layout.

Now for the crit.

Biggest problem with the map is that its still too bare. Seeing as its a moon, I sugget you add several small craters to the ground, nothing too big. Around the size of say an AAT. More debris and some boulders would be great too.

The other problem is that the Republic is too powerful. The ATXT needs to be neutered. The main gun is too strong, and it absolutely owns the AATs, Spider Walkers and GATs. Conversely the GAT is too weak and dies to anti-vehicle troopers very easily.

The Jet commando is cool and very fun to play as, but the CIS needs something similar to balance it out. I went on an absolute rampage with it, with 20+ droid kills and killing a AAT via grenades. Fun, but the CIS need to feel the love.

well, the GAT is meant to be weak actually cus in reality it is lightly armored.

but, maybe more GATs will balance their weakness, u know, safety in numbers.

or just add a very small regen to them 3 or 5 should do it.
