Oops, just spotted a localization error there. That's in French, presumably?

Re: Bothawui Release 1.0!
Sorry for posting in the WiP thread, meant to post here! Thanks for the response, though, Sampip!
By the way -- one thing I meant to mention in my first comment was the lighting, which seems so bright as to sort of wash out the colors... it strikes me that the colors and textures seem great, and that they might look better under a slightly dimmer light, like a cloud-filled sky or something.
Any thoughts on the Bothan Jedi suggestion, or that of the Emperor and Red Guards? I think they'd be great additions, and the Emperor part is easy at least. For Kai Hudorra the cloak would be the tough part, I'm not sure whether you can put a Bothan face onto one of the hooded Heroes or not. Ven'nari could be mostly the same.
Anyway, either way, great map -- thanks for putting it out there! Now I've got to go try that Alaris Prime map, which looks similarly awesome...

Ah -- okay, then. Did I mention, though, that the barrier had cut me off from getting back to the center of the map? I had circled around the edge of the map to angle in at the enemy, then found myself stuck and unable to get to the action, had to go back a ways and around the barrier.sampip wrote:Thanks for commenting! Yeah, the invisible barrier is most likely there for a reason, i used them to barrier off going further along the river, and you ought not to be going there too.
Sounds fine -- as I commented, I think the Republic side is great, and CIS staying the same is certainly not bad. =)sampip wrote:Both Republic and CIS sides are final... The CIS sides I never really change, they are actually just copied across from Alaris Prime because I prefer to keep my sides simple and BFII like.JackTHorn wrote:The Republic side was very nice, good use of the 327th. Were they actually ever fighting on Bothawui, or was that just an aesthetic choice? I like the use of the ARF Trooper, though the weapons for an ARF Trooper are usually more like the ones you have for the Legion Commander. However, I also really like the Legion Commander / chaingun unit as a lower-level unlockable, and then having the Clone Commander as the highest-level unlockable -- and by the way, nice use of Deviss instead of the all-too-typical Bly!
Cool, I'm sure that will be good if/when that happens. I do think it would be cool to have a Rebel side with various playable Bothans, though... seems odd that we're on Bothawui but the only Bothan we can play is the same old one from every other map. But it's definitely a fun map, even without refining the sides as far as they could go. Do you mind if I ask what the new mod you're working on is? Or is it a secret at the moment?sampip wrote:I may get around to doing a Rebel and Empire side but they will most likely be copied across from the new mod I am working on.JackTHorn wrote:For the Rebels side (if you ever do any more work on the sides, which I would highly recommend), a fitting but relatively easy way to go would be to make many of the rebels Bothans... say, a Bothan Rebel Trooper, a Bothan Recon Sniper, some Bothan unlockables like a Bothan SpecOps Infiltrator, and a Bothan Commando, the rest standard Rebels. Rebel Hero could be Luke, or Wedge Antilles. The Empire could be standard, since they're pretty uniform generally...
I agree: the Yavin buildings are too simple. I mentioned them only because of the shape being similar to Bothawui buildings I've seen in pictures, but as you point out, they really wouldn't work when it comes down to it. And you did do a great job with variance in style and shape of the buildings you have, but I do think a LITTLE more variance wouldn't be a bad thing, and the Naboo buildings look a lot like other Bothawui pictures I've seen -- but then, they might look odd with the Bespin ones, hard to say until you see it I guess.sampip wrote:Using other buildings is a nice idea, and I have already used some of Rend's Coruscant assets, to create a nice atmosphere. I think that the Yavin IV buildings are too simple - but the main thing that annoys me is that they only use one texture per building. Since the buildings on Bothawui have some colour and texture variance, I can't use them because I wouldn't be able to fit them with the style of the map. I may look into some Naboo buildings to use but the buildings I am using already I think give enough variance in style and shape to the map.
JackTHorn wrote:My only thought for a change on the Republic side would be to put in a Bothan Jedi... the two that come to mind first are Kai Hudorra (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kai_Hudorra) and Knol Ven'nari (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Knol_Ven%27nari). Maybe Hudorra with Mind Trick (Stealth) and Disguise (Bothan Citizen), or else Ven'nari with Force Flame and Force Heal (Regenerate)?
JackTHorn wrote:I didn't see an Imperial Villain on the field when I played, so I don't know who you picked, but the Emperor would actually make sense, and some Imperial Red Guards too -- after Palpatine heard that Bothans smuggled the plans for the first Death Star to the Rebels, he went there and personally slaughtered hundreds of them.

Re: Bothawui Release 1.0!
When I tried it darker the map sort of gets filled with this tan brown colour which doesn't look so good. You can see pictures of it earlier in the W.I.P thread.JackTHorn wrote:Sorry for posting in the WiP thread, meant to post here! Thanks for the response, though, Sampip!

Secret - but you can see pictures of it on page 88 of the Glamour shots thread. Totally uncomplete thoughJackTHorn wrote: Do you mind if I ask what the new mod you're working on is? Or is it a secret at the moment?

I'm fairly sure the barriers didn't block off any intended routes. They merely stop the AI - and you getting anywhere they shouldn't be. Could you tell me exactly what route you were taking?JackTHorn wrote:Ah -- okay, then. Did I mention, though, that the barrier had cut me off from getting back to the center of the map? Don't worry, I have taken all your suggestions into account and may use them if and when I decide to release a version 2.0. They are nice ideas, I didn't skip over them.

Yes, credits were edited and I'm working on doing what you suggested.
The speeders have no sounds - because my computer speakers broke, which meant I didn't want to change the sound file for the map incase I accidentally did it wrong and had no sound in the map whatsoever.
And the Bothans not running around in GCW must have been an error in the script - (I didn't notice it since my main focus was in the CW and I hadn't played GCW much before the release.
And I'm pretty sure invisible barriers were fairly well placed. I'll run through it all and place them again, I guess.
And I probably won't change the boxes/benches, I like them the way they are IMO. Sorry about that![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
I'm sorry if I dissapointed you but it is all being taken into account and worked on for a second release.

Re: Bothawui Release 1.0! & Alaris Prime Release FINAL
Hey I don't know if these problems have been mentioned yet. But I noticed on the Bothawui conquest maps, that conquest doesn't seem to always be working correctly, While playing the CW map, I had captured all the command posts and the countdown hadn't started. I had to find the last couple CIS troops to finish the map. Also while playing GCW, I hadn't captured all the command posts but the victory countdown started, I won without capturing all the command posts or eliminating all the reinforcements.
Also for some reason on Alaris Prime, both GCW conquest & CW Hunt keep crashing to desktop

Re: Bothawui Release 1.0! & Alaris Prime Release FINAL
GCW was missing two files when I uploaded (the files were not compiled correctly) - but there were not many changes. It was something I started but only got round to reskinning the troops. I don't think that CW hunt should crash - try playing it as the first map you play. Don't play anything else before it - start up BFII and play it straight away. That's what I have to do, but I'm not sure why ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
And the Bothawui conquest command post countdown doesn't work and yet again I'm not sure why. I must have forgotten to add one of the command posts in the script I guess.

I'll probably release the final version within the next few months. At the moment I'm working on something else but I'm fixing up Bothawui as a side project. Don't want to release the versions too quickly ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: Bothawui Release 1.0! & Alaris Prime Release FINAL
I tried what you suggested, but I'm still having alot of trouble getting it to work properly. If I select Republic in hunt mode it crashes. Also when I select Tradoshians, the game starts, but there are no Republic soldiers. Also there are no visible command posts and a possible award weapon glitch. I apologize if I keep bugging you. It maybe that I am simply doing something wrong.sampip wrote:I don't think that CW hunt should crash - try playing it as the first map you play. Re: Bothawui Release 1.0! & Alaris Prime Release FINAL
Hmm... That's certainly interesting. Now I've just realised it crashes for me too ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
I checked the error log to see what was wrong and it turns out that I was mentioning the wrong Clone Trooper in the script. I had used two different types and mentioned the wrong one which crashes. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about this now, but since there seem to be a lot of crashes, I'm considering releasing and 3rd and final version.
