Alaris Prime: Gorge
Hi all. So I had a map in the works a couple of years ago based on Halo CE's Blood Gulch. (Yes, that was the same map that was hastily released here.) I recently decided to actually finish it up, give it a huge makeover, turn it into a Star Wars location, and polish the heck out of it. The result:
Like the original Blood Gulch, the map design isn't really anything special: It's just an enclosed canyon with a Wookiee hut on either end. There are also side paths up and along the cliff walls. The supported game modes so far are Team Deathmatch, 2-Flag CTF, and 1-Flag CTF (Conquest doesn't really work here). Game play will also feature vehicle combat in addition to the usual infantry. I'm hoping to have Trandoshans and Wookiees duke it out in Galactic Civil War era. As for Clone Wars, coming soon....

Re: Alaris Prime: Gorge
Thanks for the interest, guys!
Here's onto the real highlight of the map: As you could probably guess from that teaser image and in the spirit of Halo, Clone Wars era is going to feature Red vs Blue-themed sides. If you remember the sides used in Clone Wars Team Deathmatch and 2-Flag CTF from RAS Prosecutor: Hangars, then the following six unit classes are going to be pretty familiar.
Rifleman:
Weapons: DC-17m Blaster Attachment, DC-15s Side Arm Blaster, Thermal Detonators, EC Detonators
Rocketeer:
Weapons: Wookiee Guided Rocket Launcher, DC-15s Side Arm Blaster, Sonic Detonators, Proximity Mines
Sniper:
Weapons: DC-17m Sniper Attachment, DC-15s Side Arm Blaster, Thermal Detonators, Detpacks
Support:
Weapons: ACP Array Gun, DC-17m Anti-Armor Attachment, F-187 Fusion Cutter, Dispenser Health & Ammo
Assault:
Weapons: Wookiee Bowcaster, ACP Repeater Gun, Sonic Detonators, Thermal Detonators
Gunner:
Weapons: Z-6 Rotary Blaster Cannon, DC-15s Side Arm Blaster, EC Detonators, Auto Turrets
And each Wookiee hut will have four EWHB-12 Blaster Turrets for defense:
More to come later....

Re: Alaris Prime: Gorge
Thanks! Fun facts about the sky: The gas giant you see (Alaris) is actually the planet Jupiter. And the big moon and small moon are its satellites Callisto and Ganymede, respectively.
Anyway, on to some new updates:
Both Red and Blue teams will have access to the "Warthog" of the map [fighter tank] in the CW era. The tank is now equipped with a very effective anti-infantry turret among other changes.
Battle droids will give both Red and Blue teams trouble in CW 1-Flag and 2-Flag CTF modes:
I've also completed the Wookiee and Trandoshan infantry units for the GCW era. It was a challenge balancing the two faction primarily due to their differing weapon styles and functions, but I think I got it down. So first off, the Wookiees:
Wookiee Warrior
Weapons: X1 Disruptor Carbine (functions similarly to the Covenant Carbine), Wookiee Bowcaster, Thermal Detonators
Wookiee Rocketeer
Weapons: Wookiee Guided Rocket Launcher, Wookiee Bowcaster, Thermal Detonators, Proximity Mines
Wookiee Mechanic
Weapons: Kashyyyk Long-Gun (essentially a very punchy shotgun), Wookiee Bowcaster, F-187 Fusion Cutter, Dispenser Health & Ammo
Wookiee Berserker
Weapons: Mark II Medium Repeating Blaster Cannon, Ryyk Blades
A note about the bowcaster: If you've seen or used it in action in either the RAS Prosecutor or Kashyyyk: Depot maps, its projectiles behave the same way as they did in Republic Commando (i.e. they bounce around and off surfaces for a bit before exploding, but explode on contact with infantry units). Now onto the Trandoshans:
Trandoshan Mercenary
Weapons: Trandoshan Hunting Rifle (functions similarly to the DMR), ACP Repeater Gun, Thermal Detonators
Trandoshan Grenadier
Weapons: Stouker Concussion Rifle, ACP Repeater Gun, Thermal Detonators, Proximity Mines
Trandoshan Slaver
Weapons: ACP Array Gun, ACP Repeater Gun, F-187 Fusion Cutter, Dispenser Health & Ammo
Trandoshan Elite
Weapons: Imperial Heavy Repeater, Concussion Grenade Launcher, Detpacks
So yeah, each side only has four unit classes. Now I have to get creative with ground vehicles for them....

Wow, that looks great AQT! Where did those new weapons come from, I haven't seen them in any other mods and I thought you couldn't use XSI?

Very stoked for this. If I might make one suggestion -- make a some Trandoshan classes the orange-skinned variants, like these guys:

Re: Alaris Prime: Gorge
Those weapons are by sereja, he released them over SWBFGamers about a year ago. I myself am currentlly using the wookie disruptor rilfe for a few units.willinator wrote:Wow, that looks great AQT! Also I love Teancum's suggestion, maybe you can experiment with skin tone a bit for an orangy variation. If not, thats cool to. Its coming out really awesome man! Im sure it will be one of those mods that has great TDM gameplay.

This looks amazing AQT! May I add a suggestion? In the light tank, it would give a great feel if you allowed units to "ride" on the sides and use their weapons.

Even if it's possible I don't think it would look that good. And it requires a lot of work.

Re: Alaris Prime: Gorge
The weapon looks fine. Trando weapons aren't meant to look traditionally "Star Wars" they are meant to look like slapped together DIY weapons that would be used by slavers; not a military force.Anakin wrote:MileHighGuy wrote:I made that weapon based on this:Anakin wrote:These wookie weapons look awesome.
