Turrets

Where can I find turrets to put in my map. There arn't any in the common folder, so do I copy them into my world or what?

browse to mymapID/sides/Tur ...and place the odf

And then based on the turrets you've placed and depending on which ones you want appearing in Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War, you edit the LUA's.
For example, you add a Concussion Cannon Turret from Kashyyyk.
You would add under turrets in your LUA:
tur_bldg_recoilless_kas
Simple as that.
Attention to Detail

Heres a lesson to be learnt. I just spent an hour an a half trying to get turrets into my map. Now looking back this is a simple task BUT if your attention to detail has lapsed then you will end up unstuck.
I placed a hoth turret in my map added the line to my turrets in the lua and nada. Frustrated I tried everything ..then I went back to the lua and heres what I had put
"tur_bldng_hoth_lasermortar",
Spot the mistake yup bldng should have been bldg.. Aghhhhhh........

yeah those just little stupid mistakes can even cause the WHOLE map to not work. for example i wanted to add wampas to my map. i had EVERYTHING right excpet i put AddAIGoal (locals "Deathmatch" 7)
typing in "Locals and not the number 3 caused the WHOLE MAP to stay blank and spawns to disappear. there should really be a better way at finding out were u went wrong like when u close a script it should tell you that u have sometihng wrong. i guess that would be pretty hard though.

There is something that can tell you what needs to be fixed: BF2_ModTools.exe.
But yet another idiotic move by Pandemic renders the program unusable by us DVD players.
