Suggestions for the playable size of a map...

Okay, I have been planning out my maps and have been toying around with ZE getting used to the functions and all. Also have read the docs and some tutorials. But what I'm unclear of is planning or conceptualizing the playable size of my map upon first loading it in ZE.

I understand that each grid in ZE is 8 meters (or approx 25 feet). I guess I just can't wrap my mind around how far to place objects, changes in terrain, and CPs without making the map so enormous that it would be unplayable. (or a massive sized file)

Basically when I look at the ZE grid for the first time...how much of the area should I use? (I know this is relative to the particular map one is making...but generally).

Thanks!!

EDIT: does anyone have a pic to show me as an example? Thanks again.

Really, Its hard to say how much you should use. Just mess with the sizes. If your playing only with infantry, build small. If you've got vehicles, build bigger based on how fast they are or how big they are. The only mistake I could see you could make is building a map that is too big with no vehicles to speed up the battle, or too many which makes it repetitive.

I completely agree with Astute. Right now I'm making a somewhat large map for BF2 and if it didn't have vehicles it'd be horrible (not that it's that great right now anyhow).

Listen to Astute you must. :yod:

Look at the shipped maps in ZE.

There is also a feature in the 'path' section that tells you distances etc. (my brains fallen asleep and i cant think of the name lol )

Thanks guys! I follow your suggestions.
Astute, you are right...my fear is getting to far on my map and then seeing that its way too big and not be able to "shrink" it.

Bandu: I tried that but couldn't open them....nevermind...I found them (i was in the wrong folders)

Thanks again for the tips. Now I see that whole area is convered with textures but the actual battlefield is much smaller. Now I can visualize it much better!
