Ok well currently I'm having probs getting a custom jedi into the game, I'm using the Jedi Creation tutorial but not having much success. the general gist of my problems is in another thread link .
The purpose of this post is to find out just how much I am going to be able to mod or create a new jedi. Skinning isn't a problem, however I'd like to make a new jedi from component parts of various other units. i.e. changing a units head over, back pack, torso, legs arms etc... I've never done anything like that so just how easy is it to do this (if at all) and just how much customising like this can you do? Please bear in mind that this won't be done using XSI. I'm sure I've seen stuff like this before but I don't know how to do it or just how how much of a units "body" is interchangable with others like this.
EDIT: More specifically I want to give Jango a different head and pack (and weapons - but I guess that's in the odf)

RE: Customising an existing unit to jedi
see thats the problem with skinning, you can only change teh colors, nothing else. you cant swap model parts between models at all, msh is a compiled format and only goes one way, if you wanted to make a new model then youll have to do just that, you cant switch heads.
RE: Customising an existing unit to jedi
I didn't know whether or not there was something that could be done by hex editting the msh or something. Is it totally impossible to change or add back packs using some sort of hard point thingy (in which case I'm gonna need help). If that is the case then can someone post a link to a list of characters that are in the assets (but not the game) to see if I can mod one for my purposes. Did Ihear that there was a luke/han stormtrooper unit (as in the death star leia prison break) somewhere in the assets.

RE: Customising an existing unit to jedi
you cant change any of the games models, i dont know anything about hex editing but i know you cant do it with that. even if you used bconstructor to decompile the model it would turn out all messed up and youd still have to re-rig it to the unit skeleton and export from XSI after the changes are made.
RE: Customising an existing unit to jedi
looks like I'll just have to resort to some crappy skinning of a vaugely (very vaugely) similar msh. thanks anyway.
