question abuot making skins

Post by Blackrider »

hey guys SUP!
i have a question abuot skinning.
I have tried skinning but i fail at because when i coler it in i cover over the armour indents like look at this skin that RevanSithLord created
[img][/img]
in that skin his coler doesn't coler over the armour indents, and i keep a solid color, which i never see anyone use, i suppose if i create a new skin i could use a solid color becasue it could have been just created and not have any scrates, but please someone teach me how to avoid what im doing

photoshop works great, i was just afraid you were trying to do skins in paint or something :P

anyways, to keep the scratches and stuff, open up the skin, make a new layer (ctrl+shift+n), then brush over the places you want to change color. then go to the layers palette (if its not open, look under the window menu), and change the blending mode of your layer. screen, multiply, overlay, soft light, etc work well. just play around. i also suggest looking for some general photoshop tutorials, just to get used to the techniques.

I believe the rep_inf_ep3heavytrooper can be used for the regular trooper if renamed to rep_inf_ep3trooper. Its plain white.

BTW, use paintbrush. Its partly transparent, so it shows the armour underneath
