Placing health droid object makes Zero Editor nuts *Solved*

Post by Spacerocker »

Maybe you guys can help me out here. You see whenever I try to place a heath recharge droid in Zeroeditor my screen looks like this -

or this-

Now if I dont save and I just close it, Zeroeditor reopens just fine. It's very hard to play my custom map without a health droid so I really need help on this.
Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Edit: Graphics card issue is the problem. If you have this issue too, you need a new video card.

RE: A very strange odf error/crash/bad thing that happens.

where did you place the odf folder? it must be next to the world1 folder........and the msh folder next to it

It's a common odf, so it's in my data_abc/common/odf.
That's right isn't it?

I do have my map's regular odf folder in my data_abc/worlds/abc next to the msh and world1 folder and they work fine.

Hi. It's been awhile since I've posted but Im still working on a couple of maps. My thread was on pg 6 I think and Im still having this problem a month later so i hope bumping is ok. I've edited the subject and first post to make my problem a little clearer.

All work and no play makes buster go crazy!!!!1111

Just kidding, but have you got a new graphics card lately? That makes zero editor go "crazy" or not function at all, try changing the colour quality on your computer from 16 bit to 32 bit and see if that helps.

I really doubt my graphics card has anything to do with it. Zero editor runs fine 97% of the time. My color quality is set at 32 bit. Its only when I try to place a health droid object that the program messes up like i said before.

Well I must be lucky, never had that problem and you are correct to place a health droid you dont need to move any files its just sitting there in the ABC_Common along with the ammo droid.

try using the .msh of the health droid. it appears in ZE but not in-game. do you have to add something to the LUA.

Nothing needs adding to the LUA, it does look like a graphics problem tho as your ZE is seriously messed up. This shouldnt happen :-(

Thanks for the help. I've tried turning it off and then on again multiple times and I also tried using the .msh of the health droid and I still have the same result. Grrrrr! Stupid Thing. Trying to place an ammo droid also messes ZE up. Im think I'll just save my map .wld file, other files and folders and just reinstall ZE. My map should still load up correctly after I reinstall, correct?

Yeah, just backup your map. Wipe everything else out and reinstall.

when ever i try to place a ammo recharge or health recharge droid ZE just crashes and im taking them from the common folder so i dont think im missing the MSHes or am I?

Post by Emraz »

Nope I take them from the common folder from inside my ABC folder and they work just fine in ZE, in single player and in multiplayer PC and dedicated servers. Im just placing the odf via browse in ZE not doing anything else.

Just in case u ma be using something else heres the path

C:\BF2_ModTools\data_ABC\Common\odfs

the .odf here for te health droid is called com_item_healthrecharge

out of interest does this happen when you try to place anything else. when i try to place a lot of turrets barely any of them work. try placing turrets and say if they work.

EDIT: it's definately a graphics issue. i placed an object that made ZE go crazy, saved and munged. then i ran bf2_modtools and got the following message.
Message Severity: 3
.\Graphics\Pc\pcRedTexture.cpp(227)
TEXTURE FORMAT NOT SUPPORTED WITH THIS CARD!
OK nobody is ever going to read this now, but just in case, i can confirm, after getting a new graphics card, that it is to do with your card
