Dark caves [Solved]

Post by naru1305 »

hi GT,
i´m working on a map which has a ground and a underground, a tunnelsystem.
i want now to have a dark brightness there, i used shadow regions, but only my unit gets dark, so this don´t work. i have a global light, sun, which is for the light for the ground, but the tunnelsystem is bright too, any suggestions?
btw, yes i used search, but i´m too silly to understand the resuls, or they were wrong for me.
thanks in advance :D

Use a "dark" global light (deep blue) and then use a second directional light confined to a region that is only above-ground (for your sun).

Or use shadowregions for the units and darken the tunnel's textures.

Please excuse me for bumping a solved thread, but how exactly do you go about binding a directional light to a region? I've been trying to do this for ages but have never gotten it to work :/

i just copied the name of the region and paste it under the "bounding region" field for the light you want only on a region

It's not going to "work" in ZE (all directional lights in ZE render as global, bounding region or not); it's an effect that only works in the game.

I still can't get it to work. I make a second directional light, and then make a region. I take the region ID and paste it into the "bounding region" field on the directional light. When I munge and load up the map in Battlefront II, the light still appears everywhere. What am I doing wrong?

I have the same problem with my map. I have tried adding numbers to the 'shadow' ID to no avail. Does anyone know how to make bounding regions work with directional lights?
