Battlefront II guide to adding water

Post by Tohron »

I really need to know how to add water. So far, my best attempt to add it has frozen before even reaching the Loading screen. Links to BF1 guides, or BF1 instructions will NOT cut it - I've already tried two BF1 tutorials for this, but file rearrangement in BF2 rendered them effectively worthless :( I need either a link to a guide for adding water in Battlefront II, or detailed step-by-step instructions on how to do it here, including filenames, and how to find those files.

Can someone please give a useful response? I've searched around in many related threads, but have never found out what I need. Please reply!

Well this tutorial worked like a charm for me. Yes, some files have been rearranged in BF2 but it's easy enough to figure it out if you're familiar with BF1 modding. If you need any help just say so.

Since file locations are the one thing I need to know (and I dont even own Battlefront I) I need to know the location of the world req file for both the Kashyyk map that came with the tools and my own map (three-letter name: GYB), in addition to the referred-to FX file for both Kashyyk and my own world. That shouldn't be too hard, thanks for trying to help!

Sure, the Kashyyyk REQ and FX file are both in assets/worlds/kas/world2 folder.

Your REQ is in your mod's world1 folder. Mods don't come with an FX file so you can just save the Kashyyyk FX file as GYB.fx and move it your own world folder.

You'll also find the water texture you need in Kashyyyk's world2 folder. I think it's kas2_water.tga

For the Effects, just go to assets/worlds/kas/effects/PC and there you'll find all the water effects you need.

I hope that helped. :)

Well, that worked, technically. Only problem is, my command posts don't show up on the spawning map now (they did before I added water), the result being that I can't spawn into the game. Is this problem known, and how is it fixed?

Well that's very wierd. I'm not sure what's wrong. There's not really anything outside of ZeroEditor that could have caused that, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the editor. I wish I could be of more help. :?

If you can't figure out the problem I'd just add the CP's in again.
