Add objects?
How do you add an object to your map from the ODFs from the levels in the assets/worlds etc. folder? Whenever I try to, it gives me a "cannot find/open odf/msh" error. Also, whenever I do get something to work, work as in not give me that error, such as something from the data_###/sites/tur folder, in the zeroediter it doesnt show me anything (yes, I have it on place, and I have only gotten a buildzone and a towerturret to fully work). Is there something else to it, or is this just another one of my [many] zeroediter problems?
here i wrote this for my friend ages ago:-
here is a simple guide on getting an endor tree into zeroeditor- this works the same
for all objects
1.first open data_***/worlds/***/world1 then leave that there.
2.open a new window and go to bf2_mod tools/assets/worlds/endor.
3.then go into odf and find end_bldg_tree1 or something like that.
4.copy that and paste it into your world 1 folder.
5.then go back to endor and open the msh folder.
6.get all msh with the same name as the odf, including the ones like end_bldg_tree.msh.option
and paste them into the world1 folder.
7.now open zeroeditor and click objects
8.look down and u see a browse button.
9.click it and find the world1 folder then open end_bldg_tree.odf
10.click place at the top of the objects bar and the tree should appear where u place the cursor
11.now when you click thats the initial place the object is
12.click select at the top of the object bar and place your cursor over the tree
13.this highlights it so click and select it.
14.now when its selected have a go at moving it...
15.press and hold C and the LEFT mouse button and the RIGHT mouse button at the same time
16.now when you move the mouse the object moves with it! well done!
17.try changing the height, let go of the left and right buttons but keep C held.
18.now click down on the middle scroll button on the mouseand move the mouse forwards
and backwards. tah dah!a height changed object. have a go at raising the terrain
then trying to get the object level on it.
19. now lets rotate the object. select the object and hold down X
20. sure a tree isnt the greatest object to rotate but maybe you chose something different.
anywhos with X held down click down on the mouse scroll button and move the mouse
around, this will change the angle its facing, now try it with rightclick then
leftclick, to rotate it in all angles.
and there we go! a simple guide to inserting a tree, try it with whatever objects
you need, now you can make simple fun maps with maximum ease.
