Modding problems on Steam for SWBF 2

So, i'll just be straight forward with this, Steam is fairly [Diet Dr. Pepper] but it's all i got, now that that's out of the way, I'll explain my problem.

I've been struggling to mod Star Wars Battlefront 2 successfully, with problems varying from My desktop mouse appearing on the screen and confusing me while trying to play, to randomly black screen when playing, to even black screening and stoping the game when i play Modded units or anything other than Infantry, i've tried multiple mods with fresh restarts and i was wondering if that Steam advanced lauch code that i can use or if i'm just screwed and shoulda bought the regular version instead of the Steam Version
