I love that yellow-orange mix. It also fits very great to the black parts. Maybe make the yellow parts a little bit darker to make it match better to darker parts (i.e. eyes, neck, hands..).

I released a newer stormtrooper on here recently, if you're interested in it. In any case, it's nice to see somebody use my models.RevanSithLord wrote:So, based on a type of Stormtrooper (Magmatrooper) from Rising Empire mod for Men of War: Assault Squad 2, I made a skin using ggctuk's Stormtrooper:

It's really basic, but I think it's awesome. It was just a 'for fun' thing I did last month.
In other news, I did this dude, but am not sure I can actually use him on a mod that I can post here given the helmet was ripped from Star Wars Uprising:
The body is a modded Dark Trooper, however.

That's awesome. I'd love to eventually give the 514th a Purge Trooper. And yeah. I'm torn between yours and Icemember's. I think I like the helmet on your models a bit more. I'll check out your newer Stormtrooper. I just have this thing for Republic and Imperial-type of armors and varying equipment. :p

Re: Glamour Skins to the 9s
I didn't know icemember had done one too, but I did go take a look after you mentioned it. It was CodaRez's one that inspired me to make my own adjustments. But both CodaRez's and icemember's models are very good too.RevanSithLord wrote: That's awesome. I'd love to eventually give the 514th a Purge Trooper. And yeah. My custom legion in Designated Days (dark red and white). Also the same legion shown in The Exile's Voyage (Black and green armored troopers).commanderawesome wrote:514th?RevanSithLord wrote:I'd love to eventually give the 514th a Purge Trooper.p

That's some nice lava there! Hope I can get a similar effect when I make a map based on Mustafar or Sullust in the future. Hmm.

Here's something I put together over a couple of days. I did start out with the new game's jump pack mesh, reduced the polys but that was never an ideal solution: I had to rebuild a sizeable portion of this jump pack. It runs at just over 800 polys.

Re: Glamour Skins to the 9s
I will NOT post this, just to start this off. This was an experiment. to see just how far I could push it triangles-wise.
I popped this dude into SWBFII, and aside from body glove tearing (I have not weighted the body glove so parts of it go everywhere), he actually works!
Evidence, then, that the game can easily take models with a lot of triangles. This model, being from the new SWBF, is a weighty 34824 triangles. If I were to weight it correctly (not 100% sure I want to finish the task) it would be a very nice model.
This does have a bit of a meaning, though: If EA were sensible, they could easily use these models in an enhanced re-release of either the original SWBF or SWBFII. But we all know how likely that is to happen.
This was literally just a test to see if it could be done, after I saw somebody import it into SWBFII as a prop.
EDIT: And here is some proof it works ingame:
Envelope is far from perfect. There's plenty of tearing and clipping that I would need to resolve to get this 100% working, but it's definitely doable.

Nice work, ggctuk! I'm no modeler but I'd never have guessed the models could be backwards imported -- that's pretty cool!

They can, but due to copyright issues it's generally frowned upon unless if it's from a cancelled/abandoned game or if it's only done for personal use and never released to the public. Which is why you don't see a lot of people do it.BF2-Master wrote:Nice work, ggctuk! I'm no modeler but I'd never have guessed the models could be backwards imported -- that's pretty cool!

As I said, it's more or less a test to see if the engine can handle them (also to prove a point that it can be done - EA, are you listening? Doubt it, but SWBFII HD is possible!). I'll probably do some more (I already have the Sand trooper converted).commanderawesome wrote:They can, but due to copyright issues it's generally frowned upon unless if it's from a cancelled/abandoned game or if it's only done for personal use and never released to the public. Back-porting... well, it all depends. It's okay to back-port something from a dead game or a game on a platform no longer supported (IE the SWBFIII models). I'm not 100% sure about whether it's okay to port things from TFU or not as that's a game a generation back that is no longer supported by LucasFilm but it's after the cutoff point posted on here.
I certainly won't be posting these here as I respect the rules, but there are places I could upload them (I did upload this version, slightly earlier it is, to another site I frequent, for somebody to test out, which is how I know they work even in the main levels and even in XL mode).

I never said there was anything wrong with what you were doing.ggctuk wrote: As I said, it's more or less a test to see if the engine can handle them (also to prove a point that it can be done - EA, are you listening? Sorry if it came across that way. That was not my intention. Just nipping it in the bud early that somebody may ask me to share it here.commanderawesome wrote:I never said there was anything wrong with what you were doing.ggctuk wrote: As I said, it's more or less a test to see if the engine can handle them (also to prove a point that it can be done - EA, are you listening? I might be tempted to do a quick and dirty SWBFII HD mod with these, though.

Re: Glamour Skins to the 9s
I was not allowed to port the TFU models. But it is great to see how much the old BF engine can handle.
@ggctuk: can you pm me? I have a question but i'm not allowed to pm you.
