Well, nobody's logged on for a while, which I just noticed might be because the server doesn't seem to be working anymore. I'll see if I can fix it.

Re: Gametoast Minecraft Server - Again!
I've still not been able to connect to the server, but I've not been able to reach other servers either. Is the server still down or is it just my internet/firewall/Faraday cage?

Re: Gametoast Minecraft Server - Again!
Yeah, I figured someone might have opened up! I was just waiting for it to be put back up again.
Sometime in the near future, if this server becomes official or something, I might recommend a tool called McMyAdmin. It's a remote server manager, allowing other people to manage your server when you're not around. That includes permissions (for Bukkit), startup schedule, backups etc. That way not only would you have to manually put it up all the time but other people can moderate and maybe even fix it if something breaks (perhaps even a GT mod )

Apparently it still isn't up, and I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with my firewall because I can connect to my own server fine.

Re: Gametoast Minecraft Server - Again!
Wait, you updated the server completely to 1.6.2, right?

I know that he updated it to 1.6, but I'm not sure about 1.6.2.

Re: Gametoast Minecraft Server - Again!
The reason the server has been down is it just stopped working for no apparent reason, and I haven't been able to track down the cause. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it up and running again soon.

Re: Gametoast Minecraft Server - Again!
Common causes for when my server went down were
1) My ISP changed my IP address
2) My network reset (power failure, network error required reset, any number of reasons that I couldn't figure out) and reassigned the IPv4 addresses of my machines
3) Firewall update wiped the exception (only happened once, so I guess not that common)

These two are the most common I've ever had. To find my new IP I just search "IP" in Google.Twilight_Warrior wrote:1) My ISP changed my IP address

In fact, I did have to do look up my IP today.

Why not just set static IP addresses to all of them? If you need DNS servers, just use these:Twilight_Warrior wrote:...and reassigned the IPv4 addresses of my machines

Re: Gametoast Minecraft Server - Again!
Not all ISPs allow Static IPs, and Minecraft servers don't always play nice when you try to hard set an IPv4. Don't ask me why, but believe me when I say I've tried.

Re: Gametoast Minecraft Server - Again!
All the necessary IP addresses should have been changed to be static, though. I'll check if they managed to change somehow.

Re: Gametoast Minecraft Server - Again!
If it still doesn't work, you might wanna temporarily change it back to dynamic and see if that fixes it. I'm not kidding when I say Minecraft doesn't play nice with static, I did everything I was supposed to in order to change my IP to static, worked for a week, then it inexplicably didn't work anymore. And I have absolutely no idea why.
