Seems Dakota's idea was basically the same except more Battlefront oriented instead of Minecraft oriented.

Based on what I have read, you can make a tentacle addon mesh and make it move like a light whip, but the damaging part of the weapon would have to stay in a straight line.

Unfortunately you could only have 8 dispensers at a time... :( Without switching classes which would be a hassle without a lot of command posts around the map. Maybe there could be one invisible command post with random spawn nodes placed in the canyon that you spawn from and then a bunch of other non-spawnable command posts that are in strategic positions that you change your classes in. Your idea with the command posts just gave me the idea to have the class swap radius for the cp be over the entire map so that when you get to the level which unlocks a class you can just change at anytime. Now to figure out how to do that by looking in a few odfs and the map itself.

So far I have 5 classes, each one with higher health, stamina, and better weapons than the previous. I've also done work on the weapons and turrets and will probably work on the walls today.

One thing slowing me down on this is that it has started crashing when I add ai to the droid team. I'm currently trying to pin point if its just one unit or if i need to change it up entirely. I have found this weird because the droids were working before, it could have been the reskins maybe or the weapons i added even though they all work if i spawn as them.

Hello again guys, this idea has been tumbling around my head since i started modding. I know this is probably far-fetched, maybe even impossible, but would it be possible to make a mod in which it would be dinosaurs against humans? I know it would take a ton of work and new models and stuff, but could it happen?

Sides:

Humans:

(Probably just people with random modern day weapons)

Dinosaurs:

Velociraptor-fast and small it could be able to run across the map fairly quickly and would have low health and average damage

Dilophosaurus- anyone remember that fat guy from Jurassic park who was shot in the face with slime? Well that was this Dino. I would shoot a "poisonous grenade" from its mouth if it were to be in the mod and have the attack combo of the raptor.

Pterodon- basically a unit with unlimited jetpack

Etc etc etc......

But I need to know, is my idea to far fetched? Or is within reach of this game's system?

It IS possible, but the Dinosaurs would take a lot of work. Even a productive and skilled team like the one around ME:U would need about a year for that side.my guess

Yeah I bought that game the day it came out, it rocks! :D I was just interested to see if it was possible to combine two of my favorite things, Dino's and clone troopers. :lol:

I've had an idea that has been floating around in my head for a while, I think I saw a similar one buried somewhere else in this thread, but I can't remember, so this is it:

Basically its a naval battle map with water everywhere. There are two huge battleships a fair distance from each other in the center. These do not move but you can spawn on them and go in the turrets. Basically like a capital ship. around it there are small speedboats with machine guns (all of these other boats are actually hover vehicles with their hover hight set low into the water) I'm not sure how you would get to these, maybe a bit of a wrecked ship or a rock that you could get to from the ship. Then, on either side of the map, there are two islands with large docks. These have more speedboats but they also have other vehicles such as destroyers and other large ships that are slow and have turrets linked to the important guns. these cannot be stood on, as it is a vehicle. Maybe farther back in the map on both sides there could be an airstrip with planes. I think this map would be very fun to play on and I have already created a model for the hull of the battleship Iowa and its main 46 cm guns (not sure if that name is correct) but I know that the gun looks decently like they should be but right now ingame they are just a prop. Comments/ideas? :wink:

Huh, that sounds like a pretty cool concept! :o I would probably be interested to help with the vehicle ODF work/rigging. :D

it sounds doable but would require a lot of modeling.

Psh, so? My mod requires a lot of modeling too (virtually all of the models in the sides are all custom -tailored for it; same goes with Virmire's assets).

It wouldn't be. I have no idea how to make a turret, hard points or any type of texturing other than covering the whole object with one texture. It would still be fun anyways. :chew: AND a learning experience!! :D

I think a cool variation on the naval battle idea would simply to have say two aircraft carriers, armed with several ship-to-ship and ship-to-air weapons. The aircraft carriers would of course have several planes on each, and you could have the option to either a) shoot at the other boat/other planes from a ship mounted turret, b) dogfight in the sky, c) attempt to land on the other ship and destroy turrets/vehicles.
Optional would be the ability to sink the other team's battleship using torpedoes from bombers.
This would work best with WWII-esque sides, in my opinion.

Lol, I actually started to make a map exactly like this about a year ago, but since my self-made models mostly suck I stopped. But I'm sure that THEMARTHMAN, Wulf8880 & co. can do a very good job at this.

Another idea: Some sort of space battle. Every team has a space station in wich the pilots spawn and wich is actually the team's only CP. From the inside it will be a simple room with some hallways atached, from the outside it will look like a huge space station (even though it's actually small). If you walk down one of the hallways you can enter (through the wall) a vehicle. This vehicle will be a big looking (but actually small) starship, with every of the station's hallway leading to a different ship-class. The starships are (obviously) flyers with many different turrets and decreased speed and turning speed, so it feels heavy. You fly around with yer crew and blow enemy ships up and try to destroy the enemy's space station. On the way you will meet asteroids and defense-sattelites, like in EaW.
I wanted to make this as a map for my WIPed era-mod, but it will need quite some models, wich will most likely look awfull if done by me.
