today i was online playing with a friend on a hero assault server, we came up with doing "roof top duels" where if you fall off the other player gets a free hit on you and we battle while trying not to fall. i came up with the idea of making a map with a set up like this.

my different map ideas:

1. Asteroid field: the map is basically a space map where players spawn on a medium sized asteroid and there are other smaller asteroids and debris floating around the map, maybe even moving around and slowing spinning (if i work with the animations in ZE some). the goal would be to try to kill the other player and not fall so far that you can't get back up (before people go and say "HEY YOU THERE, you just float in space not fall" i am probably going to try to add a blackhole or sun that you fall into if you fall and have the asteroids just floating around, since i can't center the gravity of a map on a certain object, and making it a turret with pull would just pull people in from anywhere, the asteroids won't just orbit it. if anything it will be a black hole and the asteroids with go around in circles toilet flush style. There would be a saber mode and a gunner mode. the gunner mode would consist of troopers with jet packs trying to shoot down other troopers. the saber mode would consist of a cross between the stock heros and some new ones with custom combos. the heros would either have enough stamina for 4-5 jumps or a vader/emperor float. i don't think ai would work too well in this map, between the flying and the moving platforms it would become a map that the ai would fear.

2. mustafar lava platforms: basically like the mustafar mission in the first lego star wars game but bigger, more epic, and less blocky. there would be lava with some moving metal platforms, some stationary rock platforms, some higher up bridges and cat walks and sinking pieces of random objects, maybe even destroyable platforms, like if a certain thing loses health, like a chain or support beam being cut, then an object attached to it would play an animation to fall down in the lava. this one wouldn't be as bad as the asteroid field for ai but still its not good for them.

3. Platforms: there is basically water and some kasyyyk like platforms and other wooden objects making a web of walk ways above the water or maybe high up in trees that you can fall from into a bottomless forest, like the kasyyyk map in DT2. this is probably the simpliest map and the ai would be able to navigate it when about an hour's worth of planning.

My next project will probably be number one on the list, they are actually numbered in order what i would do first. does anyone have any comments or questions?

I've actually been thinking of ideas similar to that, except in my imagination, nothing was themed, there just these were platforms on a white backdrop. The idea sounds cool, but its primary fault is that it would be very difficult (or even possible) for A.I. to navigate. Also, the playable characters may have to be somewhat specialized, but still retain the potential to be fun and zany. Uber-wampas anyone? :D

I'd like to see a weapons pickup system, with anims like you bending over, picking up the gun, strapping the other to your back, and moving. Another cool thing would be an option to be in the Command Center. I know you're thinking that that'd be boring, but I'd like it to have a mini-map showing all your units, and I'd like to be able to select a certain group, then tell them where to go and what to attack. Pretty awesome right?

It would be pretty awesome, but just so you know, none of what you said in your post is possible in the slightest. It is possible to pick up a weapon, but not any of the animations or placement of the gun on your back. Also, multiple people have suggested the command center, and it has never been possible.

Or Zerted hasn't tried it. ;) Heh, I think that all (not necessarily all) it would really take would be a new map screen interface and some LUA coding.

A way to increase Mission Limit (i reach more than 1250 mission count with the best maps and mods i would like to play). But i think that's impossible...

I thought of a new way to design land battles. So, on the ground is one starting building for each team. There are no "capturable" posts on this map, there are just posts like the shield generator on Hoth. From there, the player enters a room at the back of the base, where there are multiple turret chairs. Each of these turret chairs links to a turret on a platform in the sky, looking down on the whole battle below. Now, the player can choose between different turrets. There is one "fusioncutter" turret, where the player can fire at targets on the ground and build various buildings which are command posts, and have different things inside (one spawns speeders, one spawns tanks, one spawns flyers, one spawns command vehicles, one puts up a shield around the base, etc.). Another of the turrets is a standard orbital turret that only does damage when charged for a real long time. The final turret is a command turret. This turret is strictly a LUA weapon. On each team, each building has a different health-type (i.e. animal, building, etc.) When the command turret hits one health type, in LUA the AI gets an objective to target that building on one team, and to defend it on the other. Now this turns the game into a real-time-strategy, top down game.

My idea was a AvP mod. Two teams like Predators or playable Aliens (Xenomorphs) on a jungle like planet with some ruins. The Predators have a melee combo like Aayla Secura and the Aliens have the attacks from wampas. And as locals there are some colonial marines.

I can think of a mod map based on the 'Darkness on Umbara' episode of the clone wars series.
For those who don't knw the episode umbara is a planet with no sunshine, only darknes, green fog, and felucia-like plants. Umbara is loyal to the Confederacy, and it's army is very strong. I can't model, so somebody could make the models, and i can make the map.

What about some new modes other than modes where the main goal is shooting something?

After a talk with my cousin and brother i've come up with a map where each player spawns at a random part of a map (its big and is a canyon) and their goal is to survive, find each other, build up a base with random supplies (maybe having to pick them up from the map) and then survive against any canyon creatures.

in modder talk there would be ammo pick ups with models like rocks, wood, scrap, etc that would give you ammo to certain weapons/dispensers that your character already has while being lightly armed against random creatures ranging from acklays to tusken raiders. the units you kill would also drop resources (modded ammo packs) that you could use to upgrade your base with more walls/turrets/accessories such as possible healing post and ammo makers.

currently i've actually started up on the map of this but nothing else yet and i could possibly change the whole idea.


anyway i'd just like to hear any questions, comments, or suggestions about this and i'd also like to hear some other people's ideas and maybe hope to see some mods like this released in the future.


note: i kinda got some ideas of this from garry's mod, the game has tons of user made modes for the game including, zombie survival, survival, fort wars, rpg, and more.

Unfortunately you could only have 8 dispensers at a time... :( Without switching classes which would be a hassle without a lot of command posts around the map. Maybe there could be one invisible command post with random spawn nodes placed in the canyon that you spawn from and then a bunch of other non-spawnable command posts that are in strategic positions that you change your classes in. It would also kind of promote people to build stuff around them do they can switch classes easily and it points out good spots to build. :)
