Server seems to be down.

Anyways, I'm now using 7.0.0.147 (didn't have to uninstall 6.whatever), and I'm not getting any crippling lag in SSP so far. I'll let you know about the GT server when I can.



So, whenever I can get back to the server without being impaled on a lag spike, I have a few things I wanna do. One of the first things is that I wanna make that village by the spawn safe from mobs, as well as making the area more user friendly, adding stuff like the old tree farm and food & supply & whatever chests and things along those lines.

Twi wat java are you using?
If you are using 1.7 then mayb it crashes because most of us are using 1.6 release 27. 1.7 is technically not an official release so Java doesnt update to it

I am, indeed, running Java 7. I have been since July 28th, when it was first available, so I don't think that's an issue.

Jens said he updated his Java in order to get 1.8 to work without crashing, and perusing the support boards on minecraftforum.net, it looks like JRE 1.7 is helping improve a lot of stability issues.
So I'm thinking, maybe you guys can try it

If it doesn't work, I apologize, you can uninstall it. I don't think I will be uninstalling it, because it sharply reduces the RAM usage of the server. Meaning its "Twi uses Java 7" or no server, because my laptop can't handle it.

And Mac users, I'm sorry that this potential solution won't work for you.

Lastly, I will be keeping an eye on the bukkit forums. I have been since 1.8 came out. They rebuild the server.jar from scratch, so maybe they can iron out some performance issues.



And now, I regret to inform you that the server will be down today. I'll be doing computer maintenance and programming homework (involving the installation XP and Ubuntu on my laptop), then I'll have to reinstall some programs. Don't worry, the server files will be safe on my schoolwork laptop. But the server's gonna be down.

Fairly close to the spawn, in the desert, you will find an NPC village.
If you dig down there, you will get into a cave system which has a huge stronghold in it!
Also if you dig down through the "'Well" you come out right into the stronghold!

If you would like, I dont know how far from spawn it is, but facing the main town to the left, I started to make a huge castle spanning the entire island its on... If you would like to help me, we can build that into a main spawn safe zone. But again I dnt remember the distance from spawn. If you would like to look at it, when the servers up i can show you

So I just found something, I noticed that my javas don't uninstall or get rewritten... so they clashed meaning none of my games didn't work.
Check to make sure all of your javas are fully uninstalled and the only one installed is the latest version. After a quick uninstall all my games work much better.

So as it turns out, my computer is no longer fit to run the server. After updating it yesterday, even *I* lag extremely on my own server. From various computers and networks.
I will be installing Ubuntu later on today (didn't get to it yesterday), and Bukkit has yet to release a build from MC 1.8, so when both of those things happen, I'll be sending out a PM to a few of you to test the server that way.

You SHOULD be in GT town square with a chest right in front of you. If not, you SHOULD be relatively close to GT square (I spawned by Dohnutt's beach house), where a chest is waiting for you with various essential supplies (diamond armor and toolset, food, bow and arrows, etc).

No apology needed, Twi. Until 1.8 stabilizes, I guess there's not much we can do about it. Though I must say, if they don't fix it up soon, then there won't be an earth to save. Er, I mean, the community will get... restless.

I don't think using the old map will solve anything.

The only thing we can do is wait for Jeb to solve this issue in 1.8.2.

I don't do the test builds. Too many variables. And with how unstable the server ALREADY runs, I'd rather not use an unstable craftbukkit.

If I could figure out how to get people to be able to join a server hosted by me, I could probably host, if Twi is permanently no longer able to. My comp has 6 gigs of RAM, so it would probably be a pretty speedy server.

You need to forward port 25565 on your router.

It means you need to open up a part of your network so that users can connect to your IP address.

To get a better understanding of port forwarding.

To find a tutorial on how to forward a port on your specific router model.

This helped me set my server up(Private RL friends only)
