Maybe if it was a desktop, but it was a laptop, and most of the memory and equipment was inaccseesable or unreplaceable. For example, I can't change the sound or graphix cards...

Would it be possible to make a Harry Potter mod/map? Harry and Co. coulld be the heroes, and instead of force powers, they could have "spells". And death eaters could be the enemy A.I.

I suppose you could try making a mod/map for any show, the question is how well you can make it translate in battlefront, through work-a-rounds for the particular gimmicks the show has, and if you can capture the visuals of the film/show well enough, etc etc. The problem with Harry Potter is (In my opinion) you'd need a cast anim and custom player models for it to look right, though broomstick flyers could be kind of fun, Harry Potter just seems as different as Avatar to try and capture in SWBF2.

Edit: Slime, what exactly happened to you're computer?

Eh, personally I think a Harry Potter-style hero assault could work pretty well. For spell casting animations the ordinary force power animations or certain saber attack animations would look fine, and the attacks would basically be the same as force powers. The only problem I could see gameplay-wise would be a lack of variety in spells, or at least their effects. It would kind of be like a force power-only hero assault. Of course, you would need pretty much all new player models, and I'm not sure too many people would feel up to doing that unless they really like Harry Potter.

You could go around hitting each other with broomsticks.

I have a mod and a map idea. The first is a day Naboo map, with Captain Panaka, Qui-Gonn, Obi-Wan, and Royal Guards. On CIS side OOM are an unlockable unit. Heroes: Amidala, Darth Maul

The mod is a New Republic mod. I've seen somewhere converted models from Jedi Academy. A Mos Eisley with Cultists and others. There are some maps availible in SWBF2(Corellia, Dosuun etc.) It would be cool. Maybe a Hoth with Alora and Jaden?

I was mulling this over (and over, and over again) about the best map to make after the successful launch of my Space Coruscant map. I was thinking that I wanted to do a Death Star II-themed space-space station hybrid map, however custom models, etc etc etc need to be made and by the time I'm done modeling or whatever I'll be discouraged (like how my Space Coruscant map sat on my hard drive for two months). I guess I'll be making an intermediate stage where my skills can be developed.

I'm thinking of a Maw Installation-themed wacky map where space combat is tilted for the most part. Combat will be still horizontal but sloped (as the capital ships are being sucked up into the Maw's black hole [only one hole, for the "planet"] [lol that sounded wrong  ]) so ship and crew are sent sprawling and climbing up to their ships. It's only a handful of capital ships but converted Empire at War ships would theoretically be used (such as Victory Star Destroyers and Liberty MC80s) to make the sight interesting. It'll be a testing ground of sorts for modeling and learning how to use the modeler, as well as getting a better look at people's tastes.

Although this is a dream, I hope it'll be real after the completed Space Coruscant is out the door.

You'll probably want a death region for the event horizon, although showing players where it is might be difficult.

I was wondering if it's okay state your asset ideas. As I had spammed about a million times about my first map, I had said I needed some kind of Sarlacc that's larger than the default BF1 model, and not a cylinder. I plan on resurrecting the old idea at some point, and I'd like a sarlacc with some sort of throat down to a large stomach. I don't have the modeling program, and probably can't use it anyways, and I was wondering if someone would like to make it for me. It'd help a lot,and I'd be sure to credit you. As far as mod map ideas, how about somebody do a TFU-style Felucia with the Imperial settlements here and there? We could all do that, I suppose.

I've just com up with a really unique, and quite possible to do mode. After playing a lot of an online game called desktop defender, where you build turrets to stop waves of monsters getting through, i had a similar idea for bf2. Make it so that one of the teams has no weapons and an objective to get a certain amount of units to a certain region on the map. The player is the only person on his team, and he has the ability to spawn unmoving units into the map. Using this weapon he must place his troops in strategic locations before the enemy waves spawn. After they start, the player is respawned with weapons and the battle begins to stop the bots.

I reckon that this could easily work in bf2, you'd just need a fairly good grasp of lua scripting. I know that i definitely wouldn't be able to achieve this, bt its just an idea for anybody else if they want to give it a try.

yep, a tower defence mode (for singleplayer/campaign) should be simple enough to do in BF2. Might make a section like that for LD campaign actually, depending on how fun it is. Troops is easy enough - use the hero spawn troops idea for spawning "towers" and give the enemy troops the "no combat interupt" odf property.

EDIT: actually it works pretty well. :)

Definitely still working on it, just managed to get various AI that you can spawn in place 1 at a time and act as "towers" and ai that run along paths and act as "monsters".
I'll probably use it as a stage in 1 or 2 Last Days missions, and maybe a bonus minigame. Like I said, wanted to do a tower defence tyhing for bf2 ages ago, now i actually have the know-how to do so.

very wip pic of "battlefront defense" mode. the rep troops can't move, the rings are roughly there range, the little things are "monsters" and yes thats the players view.

I think a really neat idea would be a Mass Effect mod/map series. It would be a tough challenge and would take a long time to finish, but it is definitely worth it! This is just an idea, but it would be an amazing mod/map series.

Mass Effect Era:

Maps:

-The Citadel
-Eden Prime
-Virmire
-Feros
-Noveria

Conquest Mode Characters:

Colony: (maybe Turian?)

-Colony Soldier
-Colony Vanguard
-Colony Infiltrator
-Colony Engineer
-Colony Adept
-Colony Sentinel
-Commander Shepard (hero)

Geth:

-Geth Trooper
-Geth Rocket Trooper
-Geth Sniper
-Geth Hunter (I know it's ME2, but it's the only one similar to an engineer)
-Geth Juggernaut
-Geth Prime
-Saren (hero)

Assault (Hero) Mode Characters:

Galactic Alliance:

-Commander Shepard
-Ashley Williams
-Kaiden Alenko
-Liara T'Soni
-Urdnot Wrex
-Garrus Vakaran
-Tali'Zorah nar Rayya

The Bad Guys: (I can't think of a team name!)

-Saren
-Matriarch Benezia
-Geth Armature
-Geth Colossus
-Fist
-Shiala Clone
-Someone else?

I have yet to play Mass Effect 2, so I really don't have any ideas for it. Any help with ideas for ME2 would be nice though.

EDIT:

I won't even bother to implement ME2 into this idea. It would take way too much time and effort to do a mod/map series for both games.

That would take a LOT of work. I have never played mass effect, but all those units and maps would take a long time to make, so i highly doubt anyone will get around to it. the best mod/map idea's are ones that are fairly simple to make and yet fun to play. A massive mod like that would be a lot more effort then most people will want to go to.
