How to set up a server with a custom map
I've tried several server managers but none seem to be capable of using addon maps. I tried using SWBF2 to host a server, but nobody else was able to join it.
Help?

Re: How to set up a server with a custom map
You have to set up your addon folder in the server manager's folder. I can't remember if it goes into the folder drectly or into the data folder, but if you mess around with it, I'm sure you'll figure it out. This only works for custom maps though. Side mods for stock maps won't work with the server manager for some reason. Or I can't figure out how to get them to work.

I tried making an addon folder and put it in there, I tried putting my ATF.lvl file where the stock ones are, and neither of these did anything for me.

Did you use or create the mapinfo.txt files?
Mos Eisley Spaceport has one for example.

Ok, now the map shows up in the manager, but I still can't join it. The ping shows up as N/A and when I try to join, it just keeps counting and never connects.

You're having firewall issues. Check which ports you're using and open them all up. Read the game's readme files and open all those port too.

Re: How to set up a server with a custom map
I'm afraid I don't know how to mess with the firewall. I've never once had issues with it for anything else.
EDIT: The problem persisted after I set my Mcafee firewall to accept all in/outbound connections and set SWBF2 and SWBF2 server to full permission. My Windows firewall is turned off. I don't believe there are any other firewalls on my computer.
DOULBEEDIT: I'm connecting to the internet through a router. Could this be the source of my problems?

Most routers have firewalls. Also, are you hosting the server on the same computer you're playing on? Make sure they aren't trying to use the same ports.

I am using the same computer. How do I use different ports?
I really need somebody to host a server for me, this is too much grief. :/
(Volunteers, anyone? I don't need it up for long, I just want to be able to be on and play it with some other humans on my Antar map)

Guess you need to open the ports in the router firewall menu. Read the doc that comes with your router about how todo it.
BTW:If your router has a firewall there is no need for a software one too.

Re: How to set up a server with a custom map
The reason that the router is a large detriment is because I am not the one responsible for it. I'll ask my mom at some point, but for tonight for a few hours is there anyone willing to host a server?
