BF2 Online...
Lately, within the past two or three weeks it has been taking me longer to connect to online servers for BF2. It used to go to the load screen, and seldom even counted to two, but now it takes upwards of ten seconds to connect. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this 'joining server' lag and/or if you think it is related to the updates that gamespy is apparently running. (but two+ weeks for an update?) But its not logging onto gamespy that is taking a while, its the actual server i.e. JBA, so the updates seem unrelated. I know that the problem is not originating at my end, because my connection has not changed. Thanks for any replies.

It doesn't matter if you don't think its the updates, because it is, and there is nothing more to it.

Re: BF2 Online...

Re: BF2 Online...
It's pretty simple, Gamespy kinda comes with BF2, and you're connected to the Internet, so when it sends out the updates, it goes to the Gamespy portion of BF2, and Gamespy is connected to alot of operations on BF2 multiplayer (Buddies List, Leaderboard, green names, etc.), thus affecting the entire game.

Y'know, like if two people were Gamespy buddies, their names would show up as green (or turquoise, to be exact)

Re: BF2 Online...
Speaking of which, I'm kinda skeptical about Gamespy being the culprit. I didn't see anything on their website about updates and the like. If someone could prove me otherwise I'd appreciate that.

YES.
Nobody seems to be able to join servers, or host them because of that.

Well that's odd, I've been playing all day, and several servers are full up.[TFA]Padawan_Fighter wrote:YES.

Re: BF2 Online...
Me too, although...
I have made several servers, which all have crashed and come up with the message Connection to Gamespy Failed. Please try again. I could play on them for a while but then it came up. It also happened to all my other players BEFORE me. So it's not just me.

That's true, there are SOME people who have mysteriously escaped this, but for other people, they can't host servers.
