BFII Not working; Stereo Mix doesn't even exist [Solved]
Okay, as the title explains, my game isn't working. Why I reinstalled my game on a vista computer AGAIN is a very long story, don't make me get into it.
Okay. So this isn't the first time I've installed BFII on this same computer. Last time I had trouble, there was the simple solution of enabling the Stereo mix icon. But now I have it installed again, and the Stereo mix is nowhere to be found, and my game is still crashing before a map loads! How do I fix this?

Yes, like I said, that was one of the things I did last time, and, like I said, nothing appears. Dad's been messing with the computer again, I just know it.

Have you recently updated your sound card's drivers?Havoc 526 wrote:Yes, like I said, that was one of the things I did last time, and, like I said, nothing appears. Dad's been messing with the computer again, I just know it.

I'm not sure. I don't think so.

Try doing so. Go to Device Manager, find "Realtek HD Audio" (or something like that) under Sound and Audio Devices (or something like that), right-right click it and select "Update Drivers". If you do and the latest drivers are installed, then right-click it again, select "Properties", go to the "Driver" tab, and click "Roll Back Driver".

Survey says....
Everything is up to date.
Roll back driver cannot be selected, however. At this point I want to rip my hair out. -_-

Try plugging a pair of analog headphones into your sound card's headphone jack (instead of your speakers'). If that fails, you can disable sound altogether in-game, 'tis what I had to do for a while when I first got the game.

@Marth8880 We already have headphones plugged in. That's our default source of sound. :/ If Lephenix's solution doesn't work, than yes, I will try it by disabling my sound.
@Lephenix I will try that link. Are there any risks I should look out for?
EDIT: It worked! By golly, it worked! Thanks guys! You all helped a great amount!
